Everton is officially in negotiation with Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
In 2021 the Colombia international will out of contract at the Bernabeu and ahead of the new season, the winners of La Liga are expected to leave.
Everton was closely linked to a swoop for the former Bayern Munich loan, though Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers fellow Premier League sides were also credited with an interest.
Yet following a breakthrough in negotiations with Real Madrid, Everton is set to win the race for the midfielder’s signature, according to Sky Sports News.
The report suggests that at Goodison Park Rodriguez is ready to sign a three-year contarct, where he would be working for the third time at Bayern and Real under Carlo Ancelotti after their stints together.
The 29-year-old has only netted once in 14 appearances over the last season, while he has recorded 37 goals for Los Blancos in 125 games in all competitions upon his arrival.
