The Bayern striker deservedly won the award ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, thus rounding off a fantastic season.
Robert Lewandowski was named the best football player in the world in 2020 by the World Football Federation (FIFA).
In an interview with France Football, Lewa revealed that in 2012 he reached an agreement with Sir Alex Ferguson on a transfer to Manchester United, but that his then club Borussia Dortmund stopped the transfer.
“After my second season in Dortmund, I spoke alone with Sir Alex Ferguson. He wanted me in Manchester, and I was very interested. I can freely say that I was ready for the transfer, but Dortmund did not want to let me go,” Lewandowski revealed.
The Polish striker then played two more seasons at Borussia and then went to Bayern as a free agent.
It could easily have happened that Lewa never got into the situation he is in now – that he is the best football player in the world and without a doubt one of the best goal scorers in the past decade.
He entered his eighth season with the Bavarians. He is still phenomenal and has scored 266 goals in 307 games so far.
