Marco Reus feels Borussia Dortmund is not far from pipping them, though Bayern Munich has won the Bundesliga title eight times in a row.
Borussia Dortmund needs a “perfect season” if they are eventually to end the Bundesliga domination of Bayern Munich, Marco Reus admits.
With Dortmund 13 points behind in second, Bayern took 58 points out of a possible 60 to win the league for an eighth consecutive season, from their last 20 games of the 2019-20 campaign.
BVB was just four points behind Bayern after the coronavirus-enforced break in May, but the Bavarian club never looked back after Joshua Kimmich scored the winner in Signal Iduna Park on May 26.
In five of the previous eight seasons, Dortmund finished runners-up to Bayern and BVB captain Reus acknowledged that his squad had to be nearly flawless.
“There’s a lot of speculation it’s because of this, or that, but you basically have to have a perfect season,” he told BVB TV.
