PSG defeated Metz away with Hakimi’s double strike

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Metz 2-1 away and recorded their seventh victory of the French football tournament. The maximum performance of the Parisians was made possible by the Moroccan Hakimi. Both goals for Mauricio Podhettino’s team were scored by former Inter Milan team defender Achraf Hakimi.

He hit the first goal in just the 5th minute while the second was scored in the extra time in the fifth minute of the referee’s compensation. Leo Messi missed this match due to injury. With Lionel Messi out, Achraf Hakimi’s double proved decisive for PSG against Metz, who saw sent off their captain and coach.

Hakimi had opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but PSG was pegged back by Kiki Kouyate’s header in the 39th. After losing Lionel Messi to a knee injury PSG appeared to have run out of ideas, but Dylan Bronn’s dismissal for a second yellow card set in motion a thrilling and fractious finish.

Metz coach Frederic Antonetti was sent off for his protests, and Hakimi scored in the 95th minute into the bottom corner, prompting a furious response from Metz goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja as PSG made it seven wins in a row. PSG retains its top position in Ligue 1 standings with 21 points while second place is held by Marseille who played only 0-0 at Angers.
