Premier League: West Ham won another trip to Aston Villa

Since 1967 for the first time, West Ham has won consecutive trips to Villa Park, this time defeating 10 men Aston Villa by 4-1 football scores. With just 7 minutes into the game, Ben Johnson took the lead scoring an opener drilling the ball goal into the bottom left corner to put the ‘Hammers’ 1-0 up.

The hosts managed to draw level, as the match went on, when Emiliano Buendia produced an accurate pass which Ollie Watkins picked up and stroke into the middle of the net past helpless Lukasz Fabianski. All their hard work was washed away, however, as the guests responded sternly retaking the lead 4 minutes later through Declan Rice accurate shot to making 2-1.

As Ezri Konsa brought Jarrod Bowen down and after a VAR review eventually got to a second yellow card which turned into red and was sent off the pitch leaving the hosts outnumbered with 40 minutes to play, the start of the second half went from bad to worse for the hosting side. Against a stubborn Villa defense, it took some effort, but eventually a third and fourth arrived through Pablo Fornals and Bowen respectively, both bringing the ball under their spell before calmly finishing off a counter-attack, each from close range.

After ten Premier League games David Moyes’ side move up to 20 points, equalling Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in third place. On the other hand, Aston Villa has only managed to gain 10 points in as many fixtures with only 3 points ahead of the relegation zone extending their losing streak to four games.
