Steve Bruce managed his 1000th game in Newcastle United but failed to gain a victory after the takeover. Tottenham Hotspur triumphs Newcastle 3-2 at St James’ Park, with Harry Kane scoring his first Premier League goal of the season.
The football match was temporarily halted due to a medical issue in the stands, and the fan who became unwell is now in a stable condition in the hospital. As Javier Manquillo’s cross was met by Callum Wilson, Newcastle got off to a flying start, who scored the home side’s first goal in the second minute.
Kane felt he had turned the game around with a wonderful dink over Darlow minutes later, but the flag was raised. However, after a VAR investigation, he was found to be onside and the goal was awarded. Bruce’s side looked threatening on the break, as they went in search of an equaliser, with Wilson’s low cross coming dangerously close to being met by Allan Saint-Maximin.
Lucas Moura rose highest from a corner and headed against the bar, with Sergio Reguilon and Eric Dier playing key roles in the fan obtaining assistance before the game was delayed for the medical emergency.
Spurs’ third goal came in first-half stoppage time when Kane was sent into the channel by some lovely interplay on the edge of the Newcastle box, and his South Korean teammate buried his cross with ease. Tottenham dominated the second half, with Ndombele coming close to scoring his second of the game on the hour mark and VAR clearing Matt Ritchie of handling the ball in his own area.
