Manchester City extended their head-to-head record to ten games after they claim a 3-0 victory against Everton at the Etihad Stadium. After the defeat against Crystal Palace, Manchester City knew to avoid 2 defeats in a row in front of the home crowd they would have to dispatch a solid Everton side. Carving the ‘Toffees’ open was proving to be a difficult task for the football club, but when Sterling stood a teasing ball up to the far post for Phil Foden, it seemed for all the world like City would take the lead.
When Michael Keane hung a leg out in the area the highlight of the first half undoubtedly came and Sterling appeared to tumble over it and awarded a penalty. However, after the VAR review, the referee decided to overturn his original decision in favor of Everton. Everton came out with a big push forward after the first half break in search of an important equalizer, but after a couple of minutes, Man City took control of the game looking to double their lead. With 11 minutes into the second half, it was Rodri who registered the second goal of the night smashing the ball past Jordan Pickford.
When Cole Palmer’s deflected shot was placed into the back of the net by Bernardo Silva, the third goal came five minutes from time.
