Lisbon, Munich, Frankfurt, and Geneva are alternative options, if Istanbul isn’t suitable for the Champions League Final, according to reports.
On 17 June a decision is expected, during the next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee.
Initially, Istanbul was supposed to host the Final but then the coronavirus pandemic swept across Europe forcing a suspension of all the tournament.
The idea now is to play the Champions League and the Europa League in August, potentially in one country as a Final Eight or Final Four contest format to minimize travel.
While Frankfurt is added to the candidates by the German newspaper Bild, there are a few different options, as the Associated Press and Calcio e Finanza point to Lisbon, Munich, and Geneva.
