Philippe Coutinho completed his one-year loan from Barcelona and has received high praise from Bayern Munich.
The Brazil international is now on the way to return to Barcelona, so Bayern Munich paid tribute to the “outstanding” Philippe Coutinho.
The 28-year-old arrived at Bayern last August on a season-long loan which continued to cover the season’s final weeks after the coronavirus pandemic disruption.
For the second time in history, Bayern secured the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League titles and Coutinho’s tenure in Germany was highly fruitful in terms of silverware.
Coutinho also came out of the bench to score twice and assist another goal in his parent club’s 8-2 quarter-final devastation.
However, injury obstacles and the form of Bayern’s other striking players under Hansi Flick have restricted Coutinho to just 15 starts in the Bundesliga and five in Europe.
“We would like to thank Philippe Coutinho very much. With his creativity and excellent technique, he has invigorated our game during this treble-winning season,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement.
