Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has commented against players leaving the team for national teams if they have to undergo a 10-day quarantine after returning to England.
Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel had previously expressed similar sentiments.
“Next week we will talk about it again. I think there is no point if players fly to the national team and then sit in isolation for 10 days on their return. It makes no sense at all,” the coach said to ESPN.
“We have been working hard, and after the national team matches important players, maybe six, seven, eight, nine players won’t be able to play for 10 days. It doesn’t make sense. They are not going to fly [to the national teams in such a scenario]. That’s for sure.”
“If they can go to the national team, play and go straight back to training, then fine. We invest a lot of time and money in an important part of the season and if six or eight players end up not being able to play, it makes no sense.”
