Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager has yelled on his charges not to lay on their laurels despite committing the Champions League to win over Real Madrid on Friday.
But ex-Barcelona player and boss Guardiola was delighted to get one over on their former rival Clasico, he maintained that winning such ties would be City’s minimum required.
“It is significant, we beat them twice. Zinedine Zidane had never lost a knock-out game,” the manager told BT Sport (via Goal).
“You see the calmness and charisma with which they play, they are strong. We ’re here to seek and win the Champions League.”
“It’s one step if we think that’s enough we’re going to demonstrate how small we are. If you want to win you’ve got to smash the big clubs.”
“I just spoke to the [Lyon] scouting team and they advised me to be careful. We’ve got eight days to get ready. We’ll enjoy it, and then will think about Lyon.”
“We just couldn’t expect to be 4-0 up after 30 minutes. There wasn’t much in the second half but we created a lot. The teams have made an incredible effort-they all.”
“We played more inside for our wingers in the first half, not broader. I guess it was a mistake from my side. We corrected in the second half and were better.”
