Paul Pogba denies claims Man United £ 500,000-week offer.
A spokeswoman for Paul Pogba has disputed reports that Man United offered the midfielder £500,000 per week to extend his contract with Manchester United.
The player in the spotlight:
Name: Paul Pogba
Pogba’s Stats in 2021/22
Pogba has entered the final six months of his current deal at Old Trafford and considers all his options.
Including the possibility of inking an extension somewhere down the line.
Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Real Madrid are among Pogba’s suitors and with a complimentary transfer looking increasingly likely.
The Sun recently claimed that United had offered the Frenchman a whopping £500,000-a-week salary to convince him to stay.
It always felt like a ludicrous claim, and unsurprisingly, Pogba’s camp has shot it down.
“To clarify media reports, Paul has not been offered a new contract in recent months, and a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
“Paul is fully focused on his recovery from injury to help the team as soon as possible.”
United are prepared to keep Pogba during the January transfer window in the hope of convincing him to stay beyond the current campaign.
Because of his expiring deal, United knew that Pogba would not generate a significant fee this month,
And the belief is that they would be better off keeping him as they strive to get back into the top four.
And he was then handling his future when the time came.
It’s a similar story for midfielder Jesse Lingard, who hopes to leave this month but allowed to head out for free in the summer, 12 months after rejecting the chance to cash in for the best part £20m.
Edinson Cavani’s deal is up in the summer as well. A move to Barcelona is possible, but interim manager Ralf Rangnick has no desire to part ways with the veteran Uruguayan at this point in the season.
