Atalanta captain Papu Gomez clashed with the coach at half-time of the match against Midtjylland in the Champions League and there seems to be no going back to the old.
It is over between Atalanta and Papu Gomez, Marca writes. Yesterday, the club captain angrily left Atalanta’s training session after an alleged new clash with coach Giano Pierre Gasperini.
The Argentine striker and one of the best Serie A players want to leave the club in January. For the 32-year-old, Inter and Milan are waiting in the front row and they could get him – for free.
Now, Gomez has written a message towards the Atalanta supporters on social media.
“Beloved Atalanta ‘tifosi’, I’m writing to you on here because I have no way of defending myself and talking to you,” Gomez wrote on Instagram.
“I only want to tell you that, when I leave, the full truth will be known. You know me and you know the person I am. I love you lots, your captain.”
Papu Gomez is asking the club to terminate his contract so that he can negotiate with his new employer without hindrance. His current contract with Atalanta lasts until the end of June 2022 and he does not want to wait that long.
