Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has called the Harry Kane football transfer saga “finished.” He announced that the forward will continue to stay at Spurs and called it “fantastic news.” At the end of the last season, Kane notified Spurs that he wanted to leave the club.
Although Paris Saint-Germain was briefly considered, Manchester City was the most interested and was a potential club to acquire the forward’s signature. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy flatly refused to sell, particularly to a Premier League rival.
In past days headlines were dominated by Kane speculating him with a move to City as he missed all the matches of the new season for Tottenham. He was also allotted a number 10 shirt at the London club in spite of no confirmation on his future.
Citizens were expected to make one last push to sign Kane in the final week of the transfer window. But, realizing that the move was not going to happen, the 28-year-old decided to call it quits sooner and commit to the Spurs for the foreseeable future.
After an extended summer break, Kane returned to training last week and Nuno has been impressed with what he has seen in that time, despite the fact that his future is still up in the air.
“It’s great news, fantastic news for everybody. Since Harry joined us, he’s been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training sessions has been great,” Nuno said, via the Evening Standard for the football news.
“It’s finished. Harry’s going to be with us. He worked today. He’s an option [to face Pacos]. Like I said, fantastic news for everybody. We are all very happy. He is one of the best players in the world, so we are all very happy, delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us.”
