UEFA reportedly would not allow Roma to register a midfielder for the Europa League even if Nicolò Zaniolo returned from injury.
After suffering an injury in January, Zaniolo was excluded from the list of players eligible for the UEFA tournament and was also excluded for the remaining of the season
The return of football seems to be some 40 days away and if given a break force, Italy could be back in time in the event of resumption.
UEFA has been asked by many European clubs to review their registration process and to allow the changing of one or two players on the list presented at the end of the transfer market in January, claims Il Tempo.
But the newspaper keeps up that Roma coach Paulo Fonseca will have to cope without the excluded trio Zaniolo, Davide Zappacosta, and Juan Jesus and the European Football Association in Nyon opposes the solution.
UEFA was not willing to accept the changes as Portuguese hoped to get the youngster back for the 16th round against Seville which means that Zaniolo and Zappacosta could only return to Serie A.
