Neville: Manchester United look “desperate” every time they search for a player

Manchester United’s recruiting style has been challenged by the Red Devils legend Gary Neville saying that the Premier League giants look “desperate” every time they go for a player.

He said to PA Sport: “Like everyone else, they had three months off because of coronavirus, so I don’t think it should be the case that they didn’t have the money or time to do things.”

“Chelsea got their business done, City got three or four pieces done. I don’t think the timing is going to be the problem.”

“It’s just a thing that every time they go for a player in the last four, five, six years they feel they’re a little desperate.”

“They think they can hold on, but at the end of the day, they still pay it (the asking fee). Often that’s where I think you should take charge, set a tough deadline, and say ‘we’re moving away from this contract.’”
