FC Dynamo Kyiv sacked their manager Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko after a poor season, and the club appointed Romania’s top football coach Mircea Lucescu as the new manager.
Before working for Russian Zenit St Petersburg and Turkey national team, Lucescu was at the helm of Dynamo’s most-principled opponent FC Shakhtar Donetsk from 2004 to 2016.
Since a four-year pause, the star coach returns to Ukraine with the designation of Kyiv’s manager.
The official web site of the club did not state the contract specifics but confirmed the contract via twitter.
“I hope that with the arrival of his coaching team, Dynamo Kyiv ’s victorious traditions will be revived, that he will win many titles, and that the fans will evaluate Mircea with his results. Good luck to him, good luck! I’ll help him with anything I can.” said club president Ihor Surkis.
