Mikel Arteta hailed young players as Arsenal conquered West Ham

Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0 in the English Premier League match. Arsenal needed some other good attackers against West Ham, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ruled out of the football match for a breach of discipline. However, coach Mikel Arteta has hailed the young players for their performance. Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe scored one goal each for Arsenal.

The match between Arsenal and West Ham was goalless until the first half, but early in the second half, Gabriel gave the team the lead in the 48th minute with a goal from Alexandre Lacazette. West Ham were dealt a major setback after a bad foul when their player Vladmir Coufal was shown a red card after receiving a second yellow card in the 67th minute, allowing the team to play the rest of the match with 10 players.

Meanwhile, in the 87th minute for Arsenal, Rowe scored a goal from Bukayo Saka to extend the team’s lead to 2-0 (match score). Arsenal retained this lead till the end and won. With this win, Arsenal are fourth in the points table with 29 points from 17 matches.

The Gunners manager hailed the squad stating: “I think [the young players] were really good, all of them, and the senior players led by example. We had some sound performances needed to beat this team. I am really pleased. It’s important for Gabi [Martinelli] to score a goal like he did today. It helps because they know each other, some of them are from the academy, and the chemistry is there. I really like the link and the senior players are contributing and really enjoy helping the boys raise.”

He added, “They are really positive signs, but the way the team is playing, we have made progress, but there is still a lot to do. We had some bumps in the road, but we have learned a lot since then. We have had to stick together and have to stick together, the staff and the players. The players play for the club, with the pride and energy that we all expect from them, I was really happy, the focus they had, to play the game and put in a good performance. We had to play really well to beat West Ham and I think we’ve done it.”
