Lionel Messi discusses how his adaptation in PSG has been eased with the help of Spanish-speaking teammates. The Argentine claims that a number of Spanish-speaking players, including Kylian Mbappe, have assisted him in settling in at French football club Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi has disclosed that Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe speaks “excellent Spanish.” The six-time Ballon d’Or winner believes that having teammates in the dressing room who speak the same language as he has helped. He also admitted that leaving the club where he spent 21 years was painful, and indicating that he feels “a little bit lost” in Paris.
In an interview with France Football Messi said, “I knew I was coming to a new country and had to start from scratch. Knowing that I had friends in the dressing room made me think that things would be easier to adapt to. And I was not wrong, because it was very easy to settle, especially because there are many players who speak Spanish, like me, and some friends like ‘Ney’ [Neymar], ‘Lea’ [Leandro Paredes], ‘Fideo’ [Angel Di Maria], who helped me when I arrived.”
Mbappe, the France international who announced in July that he had told PSG he would not sign a new contract, was also highlighted, with Messi admiring his knowledge of the Spanish language. “With a player like [Mbappe], it’s easy to get along. Also, Kylian speaks perfect Spanish, so we have good exchanges off the pitch as well,” continued Messi.
“It makes things easier. Now, I’ve only been here a short time, so it’s still a bit early to draw conclusions. But I’m sure it will work out well.” The attacking trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe has high expectations, as Messi and Neymar previously formed two-thirds of the dangerous ‘MSN’ trident at Barcelona, alongside Luis Suarez, who scored 364 goals in 450 matches. On the other hand, only one goal is scored by Messi and Neymar each while Mbappe has scored four goals and assisted on another five in all competitions this season.
