At the end of the season, Belgian winger Dries Mertens will leave the club according to reports, yet he is ready to sign a new two-year deal with Napoli.
Mertens played for seven years at Napoli and has scored 121 goals in 309 appearances. As the best scorers in the history of the club he and Marek Hamšik share the first place.
The new contract will bring him a bonus of two and a half million to extend loyalty to the club, and a salary of four million euros per season, Italian media reported.
The 33-year-old was expected to leave Napoli with his contract expiring this summer and Chelsea, Inter and Roma were interested in him.
