Mason Mount told his father, moments after Chelsea won the Champions League, that he would win the Premier League with The Blues. Mount has been graduated from Blues academy and last week he has helped Chelsea win the football club’s most prestigious competition for the second time in club history of football. The London club secured a 1-0 win over Premier League champion Manchester City.
Mount has had another successful season at Stamford Bridge, scoring in the semi-final victory over Real Madrid before assisting on Kai Havertz’s winning goal in the final.
After Chelsea won the Champions League in Porto, The 22-year-old was spotted rejoicing with his dad and brother on the ground. A week later, Mount senior has now shared the conversation they had shortly after the final.
Tony Mount told The Byline podcast: ‘When we were on the pitch after the game, I grabbed him by his ears I think and I just said, “you’ve won it, you’ve won the Champions League! Can you believe it?”
‘He just went, “yeah, I’m going to win the Premier League now”.
‘It’s like, “enjoy this one”, but he’s like, “I am but I’m going to win the Premier League, we’re going to win the Premier League”. I’m like, “yeah I agree, I think you will”.
“It’s unbelievable and that’s why I’m saying, ‘Mason, enjoy this, suck it all in, go and give something back to the fans’.
‘We will think about winning the Premier League pre-season but that’s Mason you know. He’s won the Champions League now, he wants to win the Premier League.’
Speaking to BT Sport after Chelsea’s lifting the trophy, Blues star Mount said: “I can’t put it into words. It’s impossible.”
