Manchester City prepares to play their first Premier League game of the season at Wolves on Monday, and the club’s midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is in self-isolation.
In a club statement City said: “Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK government protocol on quarantine. Everyone at the club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.”
Gündogan is also ruled out of City matches scheduled on Thursday in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth and on Saunday against Leicester.
His positive test is known to have no effect on the rest of the City squad.
