Manchester City destroyed Leeds United at home by a 7-0 match score in their Premier League game. Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the 90 minutes upsetting their opponents restricting them from scoring a single goal. Speaking after the game Man City boss Pep Guardiola and Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa expressed their thoughts.
“We lost five points last season playing Leeds. We tried to prepare well and maybe the players felt it was a more serious team than people think about. Our goals conceded is amazing. It proves you don’t have to defend so deep, but this club is creative and the club buys players to be creative. We didn’t score as many goals this season but today was a good run to be close to Liverpool and Chelsea.”
“We did a really good game. We dropped five points last season against Leeds. We cannot forget it. We are the same guys that we are today, except Jack Grealish. It was a good game. The vibe of the stadium was phenomenal. It was sold out today and when that happens, the players feel it. Thank you so much to all of them and producing this performance today was a pleasure,” he added.
Bielsa described the game as the worst of his four-year tenure as manager, and did not even think the Blues had played that well. “It’s not that City played very well. It’s a lot more noticeable how badly we played than how well City played,” he said.
“City plays like this all the time, or similar to it, but we have never played so badly in these four years. And I insist that the message is that what I proposed and what the game needed, was not good enough. You can deflect the attention when some things work and some things don’t but when nothing works, it is the decisions of the one in charge that defines what happen.”
