MLS has declared the discontinuing of FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez following reported domestic abuse incidents.
“FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez has been suspended by Major League Soccer after a report to the Frisco Police Department about domestic abuse incidents.” the league said in a statement.
“MLS conducts an independent investigation into the incident, and will remain in close communication throughout the process with FC Dallas, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Association.”
“The player proactively submitted to and is presently conducting an examination by doctors of Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health (SABH). Till the examination is completed, Gonzalez will not be able to engage in any team operation, he must be approved for inclusion by doctors in the SABH system, and Major League Soccer must conclude its examination.”
“MLS will have no further comment on this matter until the League’s investigation is concluded.”
FC Dallas published a comment of its own, stating the squad would function cooperatively with MLS while the procedure plays out.
“FC Dallas takes these matters incredibly seriously and fully supports the swift action of the league to suspend the player while an investigation is taking place. We continue to work closely in this regard with Major League Soccer.”
“FC Dallas does not provide any more details at this point, because there is an ongoing investigation.”
