Lingard’s debut double helps West Ham win

Manchester United loanee Lingard doubled his tally after Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez struggled to hang on to his strike in the closing stages.

Making first Premier League start in 13 months the 28-year-old netted West Ham’s second with a thunderous effort after 56 minutes.

Finishing in the 51st minute off Said Benrahma’s throw, midfielder Tomas Soucek put the visitors in front at Villa Park.

With nine minutes left, Ollie Watkins gave Villa a glimmer of hope, making it 2-1, before Lingard’s second rounded up the Hammers’ goals.
