Wayne Rooney has been named the new Derby County manager after impressing as interim manager.
England’s record goalscorer announced his playing days were over, following Gary Lineker and Steven Gerrard praised Wayne Rooney’s career.
Wayne Rooney vowed: “I wouldn’t change a thing,” and called time on one of the greatest playing careers in English football on Friday.
The new Rams boss had enjoyed “a truly wonderful career on the field”, said Gary Lineker, third behind Rooney and Bobby Charlton on England’s all-time goalscoring list.
Former England team-mate Steven Gerrard, who is now in Scotland managing title-chasing Rangers, said playing alongside Rooney was an “honour” and wished him “good luck” at Derby.
