Former Bayern player Lothar Matthaus believes The UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award should be bestowed to Munich’s forward Robert Lewandowski.
“The best can only be one, and that is Lewandowski. Now he is not just the best “nine” in the world. Robert is perfect, the best player in world football,” Matthaus wrote in his column at Sky Sport.
“With Bayern, he has won all five major tournaments: the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the German Cup, the German Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. In addition, he was also the top scorer in the first three tournaments.”
“Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Mbappe are all fantastic players, just like Lewandowski. With the only difference being that he won everything. Messi spent the season without trophies, Ronaldo became the Italian champion, he is still good, but not like he did a few years ago.”
“Lewandowski got even better. He deserves an award this year.”
