Robert Lewandowski was named Season Player of the Bundesliga season 2019/2020. This is the first such recognition from Poland’s skipper.
Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho, Amine Harit, Erling Haaland, Kai Havertz, and Serge Gnabry came ahead of Bayern’s main striker.
“Lewy” is left with one more game and has scored 33 times in this season’s German top flight. In five years of powerhouse striker, he has been the top scorer in the Bundesliga for the fourth time from Bayern Munich. Although RB Leipzig’s second-best striker Timo Werner also has one game to improve his tally, overcoming Lewandowski is highly unlikely for him, as the German forward has scored 26 times so far.
Scoring against any German club he’d played this season, Bayern Munich clinched the eight consecutive championships with the prolific pole. In a vote on the official website of the Bundesliga, experts and fans have identified Lewandowski’s genius style.
“Positioning, strength, and an instinct for goal make Lewandowski a complete striker. This season he has often proven vital for Bayern. In difficult games that were touch and go, Lewandowski always scored at the right moment to fire the record champions closer to their next title. Whether it’s with his right foot, left foot or head; a free-kick or penalty, there is simply no keeping Lewandowski at bay,” reads the information at bundesliga.com.
