In the Premier League, Leicester moved into the third position with a win over relegation-threatened West Brom at the King Power Stadium. Jamie Vardy scored his first goal two months later, helping Leicester beat West Brom 3–0 to raise their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League by consolidating their position in third place in the English Premier League (EPL) football competition.
Vardy had not scored a goal in his last 11 matches. He scored the first goal for Leicester in the 23rd minute.
Timothy Castagne set up Vardy for the opener, and he set up Kelechi Iheanacho for Leicester’s third after a moving run down the left.
In the 26th minute, centre-back Jonny Evans had nodded in a deflected corner to make it 2-0. Later, Kelechi Iheanacho scored in the 36th minute to put Leicester ahead 3–0 at halftime.
Castagne and West Brom’s Matheus Pereira both hit the woodwork in the first half of a game that had many goalscoring chances.
Leicester maintained this lead until the end. With this victory, Leicester strengthened their position to third place. The result takes Leicester one position ahead of Chelsea and four points ahead of West Ham. Chelsea has six games left to qualify for the Champions League. Leicester has reached 59 points in 32 matches. West Brom is nine points from safety putting 17th-placed Burnley, on the verge of relegation.
Manchester City is first with 77 points from 33 matches and Manchester United is second with 66 points from 32 matches. Leicester City will next play against Crystal Palace on 26th April, Monday.
