Leicester City smashed Sheffield United at King Power Stadium

Leicester City maintained their push for a top-four finish and Kelechi Iheanacho scored a superb hat-trick with a commanding Premier League victory over Sheffield United, in the Blades’ first game since the departure of manager Chris Wilder.

After Wilder’s resignation by “mutual consent” after almost five years in charge, Paul Heckingbottom, the Under-23s manager, was named temporary manager until the end of the season on Saturday.

However, on Sunday Leicester were far superior at King Power Stadium, where Iheanacho maintained his excellent goal-scoring form as the Foxes run wild in the second half.

When Iheanacho reached Jamie Vardy’s cut-back just before the break to break the deadlock he scored for the first time in a Premier League game.

Iheanacho got his second from Jamie Vardy’s excellent pass five minutes later, before the Nigeria forward’s powerful strike sealed his treble.

Vardy thought he had ended a six-game goal drought with his shot 10 minutes from time, but Blades defender Ethan Ampadu was adjudged to have made the decisive touch.

With the results, Leicester moves into second place, above Manchester United, who face West Ham later on Sunday, while Sheffield United remains 12 points from safety.
