Newcastle United consigned to a fifth consecutive Premier League loss as Leeds won at St James’ Park 2-1, thanks to the brilliant second-half shot by Jack Harrison.
Leeds were the better side throughout a slow first-half, and thanks to Raphinha’s outstanding 17-minute curling shot the club went on a score to the good at the break.
After the break, though, Newcastle came out with even more focus and deservedly equalized by Miguel Almiron after a dynamic exchange between Jonjo Shelvey and Callum Wilson had teed up the Paraguayan for a one-on-one.
Even after the equalizer, the Magpies continued to push forward, asking serious questions of the Leeds defense, particularly through substitute Allan Saint-Maximin in the second half.
With Harrison rounding a counter off the far post with a superb finish, it was Leeds who took it on the break.
While Newcastle stays 16th, the outcome pushes the side of Marcelo Bielsa to 11th within an Arsenal point.
