Thanks to two world class goals, Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto awarded Lazio a valuable 2-0 win over Napoli.
After six minutes, Ciro Immobile nearly scored an incredible goal, with a chest and volley on the turn that grazed through the crossbar.
Luiz Felipe turned a free header off the mark from the set play of Luis Alberto, but Napoli struck back by forcing a series of saves from Reina with the shot of Fabian Ruiz and a Piotr Zielinski curler on the ensuing corner, soon after Immobile jumped between the center-backs to steer the cross of Adam Marusic from 11 yards to the far top corner.
With his challenge landing on Tiemoue Bakayoko’s shin, Immobile still ran a major chance, but got the benefit of the doubt when they both slipped in.
Just wide from the D, Felipe Caicedo curved, but Kalidou Koulibaly avoided a second yellow card because after dealing with a hamstring injury, he was late and predictably substituted after the break.
There were a few headers from the corners of Nikola Maksimovic, but the Partenopei still lost Chucky Lozano to an ankle injury as he had to be taken off with an ice-pack tied to his leg.
As the game wore on, Napoli got more of the initiative, but without producing truly risky chances. Instead, Lazio pounced on a missed Mario Rui kick, spreading it to Luis Alberto on the edge of the field, curved into the top corner with his right foot inside for a precise finish.
With his turn from the edge of the area, Andrea Petagna forced a save out of Reina, but Napoli were toothless overall.
