Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who has decided to run for the post again, continues his campaign.
Laporta served as Barcelona president from 2003 to 2010. During that period, the club won La Liga four times and the Champions League twice and won a total of 12 trophies.
This will be Laporta’s fourth time running for Barcelona president. He won the election in 2003, continued in 2006 due to the lack of other candidates, and lost to Josep Bartomeu in 2015.
A huge banner with his image was placed on a house in Madrid near the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid’s stadium.
“Happy to meet again,” the banner said. Laporta made a post on Twitter with the words “Hello Madrid.”
The intention to participate in the election of president of Barcelona at the moment confirmed by 8 candidates. The election will take place in January 2021.
