In Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Southampton, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admitted his players ignored tactical advice to “go longer and break the press” according to the Daily Star.
The Blues squandered a two-goal advantage against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side at Stamford Bridge, with strikes by Danny Ings and Che Adams canceling out Timo Werner’s early double.
It was a bitterly disappointing afternoon for Lampard.
“I certainly didn’t want to play brave football in the last moments of the game,” he said.
“That was my message to them, that I wanted them to go longer and break the press. I don’t think the players did that enough.”
“That was probably my biggest disappointment that the players didn’t put into action.”
