Jurgen Klopp confirms Matip has injured ankle ligaments

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool head coach has shared information about the condition of defender Joel Matip.

In the 3-1 EPL 20th round match against Tottenham, Matip was injured.

“Matip has injured his ankle ligaments. There was no possibility of playing further,” Klopp said as per The Athletic journalist James Pearce.

“Of course, we are looking at all the options now [with strengthening the centre of defence], but we need to make the right decisions. We need the right player.” 

Liverpool is currently without central defenders Virgil van Dijk (cruciate ligament) and Joe Gomez (knee joint) and midfielder Fabinho.
