Juan Ferrando: sad to score in the final minutes against Al-Rayyan

Juan Ferrando, coach of Indian Super League club FC Goa has affirmed that is sad to score in the terminal minutes of the AFC Champions League (ACL) group stage against the Qatari club Al-Rayyan. George Ortiz scored in the third minute to give Goa a 1-0 lead in Group-E match which was hosted at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. FC goa maintained their lead till the end but Ali Ferydoon gave Al Rayan a 1-1 draw scoring a brilliant goal in the 89th minute.

Juan Ferrando said after the match, “It is very difficult when you lose the last minutes, but the truth is that we are playing against very strong teams and It is fantastic to play against teams like Persepolis, Al Wahda, and Al-Rayyan,” he said. “We ​​need to improve before scoring goals. This is the difference between us and other teams. It was a very bad experience for our players in the last minute.” Ferrando said that India is facing tough challenges at the moment and they wanted to win this match for the Indians.

He added, “The situation in India is very difficult at the moment. We were thinking that if we win then it will be a good moment for the people of India because it is a very difficult time for the players. They were talking about playing for India because I know it is a tough time. But we missed the chance at the last minute. This is football.” 

With three points from five matches, Goa is currently at number three in the table. FC Goa is scheduled to play their next match against Al Wahda on 30 April. Ferrando said of the next match, “Of course we need to improve, we have to play the next match against Al Wahda.”
