Jose Mourinho, who has been former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur manager, has reacted to England’s 1-0 win against Croatia in their Euro 2020 opener football match.
Raheem Sterling’s 57th-minute strike was enough for England at a blazing Wembley football stadium. In a European Championships opening, this was Three Lions’ first win since they drew their opening match at Wembley in 1996 as hosts.
On the other hand, Gareth Southgate and his team completed the task and earned three points, putting them in a commanding position at the top of Group D.
Jose Mourinho is on punditry duty for the tournament before taking over as manager of Roma next season and has previously rated England as one of the favourites based on their plethora of talent.
Mourinho has reacted to England’s win over Croatia in their first Euro 2020 match on Sunday. With the Portuguese telling TalkSPORT post-match, his prediction was only affirmed by the game: “The result is more than deserved. Everything was under control and that means a lot, especially for the first game, where people have a tendency to look to the previous results in Euros and World Cups.”
“I think it was very positive. Look at that squad and look at the work they have done for many years. Jude Bellingham, Kalvin Phillips have arrived recently but the others have years of national team experience. They feel comfortable, they have more than a team, they have a group,” said Mourinho.
