Barcelona’s new president Joan Laporta’s plans for team striker Lionel Messi have been revealed.
The manager wants to convince the Argentine to remain at the club. Laporta intends to offer the player a lifetime agreement with a pay cut.
It is considered that such a term of the contract would reduce the financial loss Messi would suffer by agreeing to a pay cut. Laporta thinks that Messi’s pay cut will set an example for the rest of the club’s players.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Laporta and Messi may soon meet to discuss the situation.
The Argentine’s current contract with the club will run until the summer.
The 33-year-old forward scoring 21 goals and making 7 assists has played 25 La Liga games this season.
