The Italian team has won the final of the Euro Cup between England and Italy at Wembley Stadium. Italy has won the Euro Cup title for the second time. However, in this vigorous match, England had taken the lead in the beginning but Italy defeated the English team in a penalty shootout 3-2 in the final of Euro 2020.
England’s Luke Shaw scored the fastest goal in the history of the Euro final in a brilliant match. Shaw scored in the second minute of the match. Earlier in 1964, Jesus Maria of Spain had scored in the sixth minute in the final against Russia. By the first half, England had taken the lead over Italy, and till the second half, the Three Lions were ahead 1-0.
England’s spirits were high, till the other half of the match, as the team dominated Italy. But in the 67th minute of the game, Italy leveled the match by scoring a goal. Leonardo Bonucci became the oldest goalscorer in Euro final history as he netted the goal to level the score 1-1. At 34 years 71 days, Bonucci became the oldest player to score a goal in the final. Even after full time, both the teams were tied with each other.
The result of the Euro Cup 2020 tournament came out of a penalty shootout. Harry Kane, Harry Maguire scored for England in the penalty shootout while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka failed to score.
On the other hand, Italy’s goal was scored by Domenico Berardi, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico. Andrea Belotti, Jorginho could not score. Italy has won the Euro Cup title for the second time. The last of Italy’s four World Cup victories came in 2006.
Even after 55 years, the wait for England to get the trophy could not end. The last trophy was won in 1966. Since then fans have been waiting for the trophy but England has reached the semi-finals on a few occasions but failed to reach the final.
