Inter offered Mertens a transfer to San Siro but he remains with Napoli

Belgium’s international Dries Mertens is expected to increase his deal with Napoli and sign a contract worth € 4 million a year plus bonuses.

It looks like the fans in Naples persuaded the 33-year-old Inter target. As they begged the attacker to remain in Sao Paulo and to judge the news in Italian newspapers.

SportMediaset reports that it is a two-year deal worth € 4 million a year plus €500,000 in bonuses for the joint all-time leading goal scorer. While many reports in Italy suggest that Mertens has agreed to sign a new contract with Partenopei.

The Azzurri are reportedly preparing the documents to tie the Belgian to the club until June 2022 and to pay him a fee of € 2.5 million.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has shown his tenacity to keep one of the club’s main members and avoid seeing him when he travels to Milan next season. Yesterday he gave Mertens a week to sign a contract or move on to new pastures.

Inter, was now linked to Edinson Cavani ‘s move to Paris Saint-Germain. Inter had offered Mertens a transfer to San Siro.

The former Napoli will move forward on a free transfer in the next window, and the contract with Uruguay will end in June.
