Defending champions Mumbai City FC’s campaign of four consecutive wins in the current season of the Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament was put on hold by Kerala Blasters on Sunday. Kerala team defeated Mumbai City FC playing with 10 players by a huge margin of 3-0. This is the second win for Kerala Blasters in the current season, taking the team from eighth to fifth in the table. Coach Ivan Vukomanovic’s team has nine points from six matches with two wins and three draws.
Despite their second loss, Mumbai’s team remains at the top of the points table in the Indian Super League. Mumbai City, playing under coach Des Buckingham, have 15 points from five wins in seven matches. Kerala Blasters took the lead in the 27th minute with a goal from Sahal Ahmed Samad. Both the teams entered the second half with a 1-0 match score, where Kerala Blasters were leading the game.
The team from South India dominated the game adding two more goals after the interval. Alvaro Vazquez doubled the lead in the 47th minute of the game making it 2-0. Jorge Diaz added his name to the goal scorers list for Kerala Blasters in the 51st minute kicking third and the final goal of the night. In the match, Mumbai goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz made excellent defenses on two-three occasions, otherwise Kerala’s victory margin would have been bigger.
