Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters FC will take on each other in a league match of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 to be played at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama on Wednesday to maintain the winning streak. It will be a match between Chennaiyin’s strong defense and Kerala Blasters’ powerful attack. Chennaiyin had registered a 2-1 win over Odisha FC in their previous football match. Kerala Blasters made a big jump in the points table by registering an unexpected 3-0 win over top-runners Mumbai City FC.
Coach Bozidar said of Kerala Blasters, “They are a good team. We will be ready for this game. They have played well two days back and won. We are definitely with all the players physically, strategically and mentally. We need to strike a balance. We need to be prepared to adapt to the moves and style of the opponents. They have good players like other teams. We need to be strategic and physical. Needs to be better.”
Kerala head coach Ivan Vukomanovic heaped praise on Chennaiyin’s safety-first approach, saying that the best defense usually wins the league. The Serbian coach said, “We faced this opposition in a pre-season match. As coaches, we have known each other for a long time. So there will be no surprises from that side. We have something to win. Will try things out. They will organize and play the way they want. We will see a tough match tomorrow. After a tough match, the best team will win.”
About Chennaiyin’s strong defence, he said, “As the saying goes in football, defense makes you winners in competitions, while attacks make you win matches. So it’s a good way to move forward.” Chennai and Kerala Blasters have faced each other 16 times. Chennai FC have won 6 matches while Kerala Blasters have 3 wins in their account. 7 matches have been drawn between the two.
