After a heart-wrenching defeat in the previous match, Chennaiyin FC and Odisha FC will look to make a comeback on Saturday at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama when the two teams clash in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22. The loss in the previous football match against Mumbai City FC broke Chennai’s record of being undefeated. The Chennai team is fifth in the table with eight points from five matches and will move to third place if they win on Saturday.
Chennaiyin’s defensive record so far in the league has been excellent but she has struggled to score goals. This is the shortcoming that Montenegro coach Bozidar Bandovic will have to work on. Odisha FC, on the other hand, has created fewer goal opportunities but has capitalized on most of them. The presence of players like Aridai Cabrera, Javi Hernandez with good shooting technique has been helpful for the team.
Coach Bandovic said, “We created a lot of opportunities in the last two games. It is a matter of time that we will score our goals. But we also have to look at our defense. We need balance. As far as the attacking front is concerned, I believe we will go ahead effectively. Our target is very clear that we want to get three points from every match.”
Odisha has improved a bit after landing under the supervision of new Spanish coach Kiko Ramirez. “The only thing I would say to my players after the last loss is that we have new opportunities to change things and win. We need to correct our mistakes and apply the appropriate measures on the field,” Ramrez said.
