Sudeva FC captain Shubho Paul was a bit surprised when he was selected in FC Bayern’s U-19 World Team. This Indian footballer is determined to make the country proud by going to Germany for training. The 17-year-old frontline player was picked from under-19 players from around the world based on video footage analysis by FC Bayern legend and 1990 World Cup winner Klaus Augenthaler.
Shubho told the official website of AIFF (All India Football Federation), “I was surprised to see my name there but it is really a wonderful feeling. Once I go there (in Germany) I have to make my country proud. I want to play in such a way that they look at my game and think that a good player has come out of India. Ultimately, I would love to make it to both the Bayern and India senior teams.”
Indian football player Paul will now travel to Mexico and from there the 15-member crew will train for 13 days before flying to Germany. The World Team (U-19) will play matches against the FC Bayern U-19 team in addition to the local teams. Paul explained that the German giants had demanded footage of the entire match for better analysis. In this 100 players from all over the world were selected and the list was first reduced to 64 and then to 35 and then to 15 last.
The Bengal player said, “Once I was selected in the list of 100 players, the coaches of the club did many types of analysis over the video call. Then finally they announced the list of 15 players who will train and play in Germany.”
Shubho has been associated with Sudeva FC since the age of 12. When the club qualified for the I-League in the 2020-21 season, he was made the captain of the team. He performed brilliantly in the AFC Under-16 Championship qualification matches, scoring two goals in three matches.
He added, “Sudeva helped me a lot. I have been associated with this academy since the age of 12 and here I have learned all the basics of the game. I have also learned a lot from Bibiano Fernandes sir (former national U-16 coach).
