The Indian football team lost against Asian champions Qatar in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Abdulaziz Hatem scored the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute of the game. In the first half of the match, Rahul Bheke of India was given a red card in the 17th minute, due to which the Indian football team had to play with 10 players in the entire match.
The Indian football team led by Sunil Chhetri made full efforts to equalize but did not succeed. Blue Tigers, which suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Qatar in the combined qualifiers, had to play with ten players in most of the matches. The Bengaluru defender had to leave the team following a red card.
After this Qatar took the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal from Abdulaziz Hatem on Thursday in a match played at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. The Indian national team failed to counterattack in the second half. The score of 0-1 by Qatari midfielder remained constant until the end which resulted in a defeat for India.
After the match, the Indian football team tweeted that this isn’t the result they wanted but will come back stronger.

India is fourth among five teams in Group E with six points from six matches, (three draws, and three losses). Qatar is at the top with 19 points from seven matches. The Indian team has been out of the race for a place in the World Cup but is still in the race for a place in the Asian Cup to be held in 2023.
