In the first match since being crowned Premier League champions, Manchester City will face Newcastle United on Friday night. Manchester United’s home loss to Leicester City on Tuesday evening ensured Man City’s fifth title in ten seasons, although the Citizens were defeated 2-1 by Chelsea. Newcastle’s Premier League survival is now ensured, thanks to a turnaround in results that has relieved pressure on manager Steve Bruce. Here is everything you need to know about Newcastle United and Manchester City lineup and prediction.
Newcastle United lineup: Dubravka; Fernandez, Clark, Dummett; Murphy, Almiron, Shelvey, Willock, Ritchie; Saint-Maximin, Joelinton
Joelinton can fill in for Newcastle United who has avoided relegation. Callum Wilson has re-injured his hamstring and will miss the rest of the season.
Fabian Schar and four others who are injured will be absent in Steve Bruce’s team.
In four consecutive games, Newcastle’s Joseph Willock has scored and will hold his place in the starting lineup here as well.
Ciaran Clark was unavailable against Leicester, but he did make the bench, and after another week of preparation, he should be able to retake his starting spot from Emil Krafth.
Manchester City lineup: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Zinchenko; Silva, Rodrigo, Gundogan; Mahrez, Jesus, Foden
In Pep Guardiola’s team likes of Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, and Bernardo Silva could return on Friday.
Guardiola could keep Kevin De Bruyne on the bench against Newcastle with the Champions League final coming up at the end of the month.
Sergio Aguero’s missed penalty effectively cost City the game against Chelsea, and Gabriel Jesus or Raheem Sterling are more likely to start if De Bruyne is not risked.
City’s John Stones is also back from suspension and should start alongside Ruben Dias at center-back.

In the last ten league games, Steve Bruce’s Newcastle has lost only two matches, winning points against Liverpool and Tottenham in the process.
Losing to Chelsea, Leeds United, and Manchester United since March, Manchester City has struggled in the Premier League, yet they are favorites to win. Newcastle may have changed recently, but with little to compete for, they would most likely ease off the gas pedal.
City has clinched the title with a few games to spare and can now turn their attention to the Champions League final against Chelsea.
The Magpies beat Leicester last week and picked up points against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur last month, and we think they’ll get a point on Friday night.
Our Prediction: Newcastle United 1-1 Manchester City
