Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has communicated about the delay of their 16 round match against Everton in the EPL.
Initially, on December 28, the game was supposed to take place, but it was postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak at Man City.
“We had enough players to play against Everton. We wanted to play. But we had three more cases [of coronavirus infection] on the day of the match. The virus was inside,” said Guardiola as per journalist Jack Gaughan.
“I informed Carlo Ancelotti about the situation. What would have happened if the Everton players had been infected by us? It was a huge risk.”
Five players at Man City so far have been infected – striker Gabriel Jesus, defender Kyle Walker and three unnamed players. Manchester City are going to play against Chelsea on Sunday, January 3.
