In the 2008 Champions League final Chelsea lost to Manchester United, Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant acknowledged that he had urged captain John Terry to be sure of himself following the missed cent-back goal in the shoot-out.
He told The Sun: “Jose likes to be the center of all, the star, in a good way. I’m the director of a movie — the stars are the players.”
“As I hugged John, I said, ’I’m never going to think about our first conversation and how you’ve helped the team pull out of a tough situation.”
“We were really unlucky, we deserved to win, but not just because of ‘deserve’. If Lampard scored when he hit the bar in extra time, it would have been one of the most spectacular goals in a final – but this is history, huh?”
