Germany maintained their flawless start under Hansi Flick and clinched their place in the 2022 World Cup with their fifth consecutive win on Monday. After a 4-0 match score win over North Macedonia in Group J on Monday, Germany became the first side to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Timo Werner scored a brace.
At the Tose Proeski Arena, Hansi Flick’s side took the lead early with Timo Werner being denied by the woodwork as the visitors fired 15 efforts in the first half. Bayern Munich has now won all five games under their new coach. Flick won all there was to win at Bayern Munich and has continued in a similar vein with Germany, winning his first five games with the side, scoring 18 goals and conceding just once.
Kai Havertz broke the deadlock after 50 minutes, and Werner scored a quickfire double to put the game out of reach for the hosts. Jamal Musiala added a late fourth, and with Armenia losing points to Romania, Germany took an unassailable eight-point lead at the summit, ensuring qualification for Qatar 2022.
