Gareth Southgate lost Kieran Trippier to Denmark for the Nations League tie against Denmark on Wednesday night, as the full-back must attend a disciplinary hearing by the Football Association to address charges related to the violation of betting laws, a circumstance described as an unwelcome diversion by the England boss.
Last year July, the same month that he transferred from Tottenham to Atlético Madrid for £20 m, Trippier was accused of multiple suspected violations.
He also said that he himself did not put any bets or benefit from other people’s bets.
The Guardian claims that if found guilty, the 30-year-old could be suspended for up to six months.
